Terms of Service

Clear terms, kept short.

These Terms describe the agreement between you and Bookvise when you use our reading and study tools — what you get, what we ask, and the limits we both accept. The summary at the top of this page is the spirit; the formal document below is the controlling text.

Version 1.0 Last updated 4 May 2026 Effective 4 May 2026
A 60-second read

The whole agreement, at a glance.

Structured eBooks

Read curated books organised chapter-by-chapter, with section notes and visual guides built in.

Flashcards & revision

Practice with spaced-repetition flashcards and quick revision sheets for the night before.

Quizzes & mock tests

Take topic quizzes and timed mock tests, with reports that show where to focus next.

Personal shelves

Save books and items to your shelves so your study workspace is yours alone.

Reader preferences

Pick the theme, font, and layout that suits you — your settings follow you across sessions.

At your own pace

Bookvise is a workspace for self-learners. We don't grade you and we don't run streaks against you.

The short version: Bookvise gives you a focused study workspace. You agree to use it for personal learning and not to break it for everyone else.

Be at least 13

Bookvise is not for children under 13. Between 13 and 18, you need a parent or guardian's involvement.

One account, kept yours

Sign in with your own phone, keep it secure, and don't share or sell your account access.

What you can do

Read, take notes, practice, take quizzes, and download the personal data we hold about you.

What you can't

Don't scrape, copy, redistribute, or resell our content. Don't reverse-engineer the app.

No automation abuse

No bots, scrapers, or scripts that hammer the service or extract content in bulk.

Personal use only

Bookvise is licensed for your personal study. No commercial reuse, training data, or coaching-class redistribution.

We respect copyright

We do not knowingly use anyone's copyrighted work on Bookvise without permission, and we won't ask you to either.

Found your work? Tell us

Email copyright@bookvise.net — our team coordinates and acts within 2–4 working days.

Free to start

Core features are free today. We may introduce paid plans later for advanced features.

Clear pricing

Any paid plan will state its price, billing cycle, and what's included before you pay.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing date.

Cancel any time

Cancel from your account settings. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.

Refunds

Within 7 days of your first paid charge, ask us and we'll refund it — no questions, no judgment.

Price changes

If we change a price, we'll tell you in advance and let you cancel before the change takes effect.

Educational, not certifying

Bookvise helps you study; it doesn't issue qualifications or guarantee exam outcomes.

"As is" service

We provide Bookvise as it is. We try hard, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free.

Liability cap

Our total liability to you is capped — broadly, what you've paid us in the last 12 months, or ₹5,000 if you haven't paid.

Termination

You can leave anytime. We can suspend accounts that abuse the service — fairly and with notice where possible.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by Indian law. Disputes go to courts in Puducherry, India.

Talk to us first

If something feels off, please email us before going legal — most things resolve over a quick exchange.

The formal document Version 1.0 Last updated 4 May 2026

01Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Bookvise ("Bookvise", "we", "us", "our") and govern your use of the Bookvise website, mobile and web applications, and any related features or content (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must stop using the Service.

Plain-English summary up top. The summary at the top of this page is provided for your convenience. Where it differs from the formal text below, the formal text controls.

02Eligibility and minors

The Service is built for self-learners but is not for everyone. To use Bookvise:

  • You must be at least 13 years old. Bookvise is not intended for, and we do not knowingly allow, use by children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have created an account for someone under 13, we will close it and delete the associated data.
  • If you are between 13 and 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf.
  • You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under the laws of India (or your local jurisdiction, if different).
  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it current.

By using the Service, you (or your parent or legal guardian, if applicable) represent that you meet these requirements. We currently offer phone-based sign-in only for Indian (+91) numbers.

03The Bookvise service

Bookvise is a focused workspace for self-learners. It currently provides, among other things:

  • Structured eBooks organised by chapter and section.
  • Section notes and visual guides to support deeper reading.
  • Flashcards with spaced-repetition review.
  • Quizzes and timed mock tests with reports on your performance.
  • Personal shelves and revision lists to organise your study.
  • Reader preferences for theme, font, and layout.

We are continuously improving the Service. Features may be added, changed, or retired; behaviour may evolve as we learn what helps people learn. We will not make changes that are intended to deceive or harm you.

04Your account

4.1 Sign-in and security

You sign in to Bookvise using your phone number and a one-time password (OTP). We issue a session token that is stored in a secure, HttpOnly cookie and used to keep you signed in. You are responsible for the security of the device and phone number tied to your account.

4.2 One person, one account

Each account is for a single individual. You must not share your account credentials, sell or transfer your account, or allow others to sign in on your behalf. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.

4.3 Profile information

You may add a display name, an optional email, and an optional school profile (school, grade, board, pincode) to personalise your experience. You can change or remove this information at any time from your profile.

4.4 Notifications

We may send service messages relating to security, account changes, policy updates, or your active study (for example, scheduled flashcard reviews). We will not send promotional messages without your consent.

05Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful, personal, non-commercial educational purposes and in a way that respects other users, the content, and the integrity of the platform.

5.1 You will not

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code or underlying ideas of the Service, except to the limited extent permitted by applicable law.
  • Scrape, harvest, or extract books, notes, flashcards, questions, illustrations, or any other content in bulk, by hand or by automated means.
  • Redistribute, resell, sublicense, publish, broadcast, or commercially exploit any part of the Service or its content, including in coaching classes, study groups for hire, paid PDFs, or training datasets for AI models.
  • Use bots, crawlers, scripts, or any automated tool to access the Service in a way that exceeds normal human use, attempts to game progress metrics, or imposes an unreasonable load on our servers.
  • Bypass or attempt to bypass rate limits, paywalls, authentication, or any other access control.
  • Create or use multiple accounts to evade limits, suspensions, or refunds.
  • Upload or transmit any content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, sexually explicit, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except under a written security-testing agreement with us.
  • Use the Service in any manner that violates applicable law, including the laws of India, intellectual-property law, or applicable export-control rules.

5.2 Reporting issues

If you believe content on Bookvise infringes your rights, or if you find a security vulnerability, please write to us at legal@bookvise.net. We will investigate promptly.

06User content

"User Content" means anything you create or input within Bookvise that is associated with your account — for example, the answers you select on quizzes, your flashcard responses, items you add to shelves and revision lists, and any feedback you submit.

6.1 Your ownership

You retain ownership of your User Content. As between you and Bookvise, your User Content is yours.

6.2 Licence to operate the Service

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, display, and process your User Content solely to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service for you. This licence ends when you delete the relevant User Content or your account, except where we must retain copies for legal, security, or backup purposes for a limited period.

6.3 Feedback

If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feedback ("Feedback"), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that Feedback to improve Bookvise, without obligation to credit or compensate you.

6.4 Aggregated insights

We may produce de-identified, aggregated insights from usage of the Service (for example, average time spent on a question, completion rates of a chapter) and use them to operate and improve the Service. Such insights do not identify you personally.

07Intellectual property

The Service and the content we make available — including books, illustrations, notes, flashcards, questions, mock tests, software, designs, marks, and the "Bookvise" name and logo — are owned by Bookvise or our licensors and are protected by Indian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your individual, non-commercial educational use. No other rights are granted by implication, estoppel, or otherwise.

All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved by Bookvise and its licensors.

If you believe that material on Bookvise infringes a copyright you own or are authorised to act for, see §8 (Copyright complaints and takedowns) for how to reach us and what to expect.

8.1 Our stance

Bookvise respects the intellectual-property rights of others, and we expect the same of our users. We do not knowingly publish, host, or use anyone else's copyrighted work without the necessary permission or licence, and we do not permit users to do so on Bookvise. If we ever find that copyrighted material has ended up on the Service without authorisation, we will remove it.

If something on Bookvise is yours, we want to know. Write to copyright@bookvise.net. The Bookvise team will coordinate with you, investigate promptly, and act within 2 to 4 working days of receiving a complete notice. Verified copyrighted content will be removed.

8.2 How to send a takedown notice

If you believe that any content on Bookvise infringes a copyright you own or are authorised to act for, please send a written notice to copyright@bookvise.net that includes:

  • Your details — full name, postal address, phone number, and email address.
  • Identification of the work — a description of the copyrighted work you say is being infringed (with a link, ISBN, or sample where helpful).
  • Identification of the material on Bookvise — the URL(s) or other location(s) on Bookvise where the allegedly infringing content appears, in enough detail for us to find it.
  • Authority — a statement that you are the owner of the copyright or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf, with proof of authorisation if you are acting on behalf of someone else.
  • Good-faith statement — a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • Accuracy declaration — a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate.
  • Signature — your physical or electronic signature.

Incomplete notices may delay our response while we ask for more information. Submitting a knowingly false or bad-faith notice may make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees, under applicable law.

8.3 What happens after you write to us

  • Acknowledgement. We will acknowledge your notice, usually within one working day.
  • Review and action. We will investigate and, where the notice is valid, remove or disable access to the material within 2 to 4 working days of receiving the complete notice.
  • Coordination. A member of the Bookvise team will be your point of contact and keep you updated until the matter is resolved.
  • User notice. Where the material was uploaded by a Bookvise user, we will notify that user of the removal and of the basis for it.

8.4 Counter-notice

If your content has been removed and you believe the removal was a mistake — for example, because you have permission, the material is not infringing, or the use is otherwise lawful — you may send a counter-notice to copyright@bookvise.net with: your contact details, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed in error, and your signature. We may share your counter-notice with the original complainant. Where appropriate and consistent with the law, we may restore the material.

8.5 Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances and in our reasonable discretion, suspend or terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers.

8.6 No use of others' content without permission

You agree not to upload, post, or otherwise make available on Bookvise any content that you do not own or do not have the necessary licences, rights, consents, and permissions to use. By submitting any content to the Service, you confirm that you have those rights. Bookvise, for its part, sources the books and study materials we publish under appropriate rights or licences and does not knowingly use third-party content without permission.

09Fees, plans, and refunds

8.1 Free and paid features

Core Bookvise features are currently offered free of charge. We may, in future, introduce paid plans, premium content, or one-time purchases. Where a feature requires payment, we will say so clearly before you commit to pay.

8.2 Pricing and billing

Any paid plan will display its price, billing cycle (e.g. monthly or yearly), included taxes (where applicable), and the features included before you confirm payment. You authorise us, or our payment processor, to charge the payment method you provide for the amount shown.

8.3 Auto-renewal and cancellation

Subscription plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you will retain access until then.

8.4 Refunds

For first-time purchases of a paid plan, you may request a full refund within 7 days of the initial charge by writing to billing@bookvise.net. Beyond that window, refunds are at our discretion. We will refund or pro-rate where required by applicable consumer-protection law.

8.5 Price changes

We may change prices for future billing periods. We will notify you at least 30 days in advance and let you cancel before the change takes effect; if you do not cancel, the new price will apply at the next renewal.

8.6 Taxes

Prices are inclusive of applicable Indian taxes unless stated otherwise. Where we are required to collect GST or other indirect taxes, the invoice will reflect the breakdown.

10Third-party services and links

The Service relies on a small set of third-party providers — for example, Google Firebase Authentication for OTP verification, Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise for bot protection on the sign-in page, and managed cloud infrastructure for hosting. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

The Service may also contain links to third-party websites or resources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, products, or practices. You access them at your own risk.

11Disclaimers

10.1 Educational purpose

Bookvise is an educational tool intended to help you read, revise, and practice. It is not a substitute for professional instruction, certification, examination authorities, or qualified guidance. We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, exam result, admission, score, or grade. Where Bookvise references syllabi, boards, or exams, those references are for context — Bookvise is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those bodies unless we expressly say so.

10.2 "As is" service

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.

10.3 Content accuracy

We work hard to keep our content accurate and up to date, but mistakes happen and information evolves. You should verify anything mission-critical (for example, exam-day instructions or curriculum requirements) against authoritative sources.

12Limitation of liability and indemnity

11.1 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Bookvise will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, opportunity, or learning outcomes, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
  • Bookvise's aggregate liability to you, for any and all claims relating to the Service, will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) ₹5,000 (Indian Rupees Five Thousand).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations on liability; in those jurisdictions, the limitations will apply only to the extent permitted.

11.2 Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Bookvise and its officers, employees, contractors, and partners from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service in breach of these Terms; (b) your User Content; or (c) your violation of any applicable law or any third-party rights.

13Termination and suspension

12.1 By you

You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from your profile or by writing to us. Deletion will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12.2 By us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that:

  • You have violated these Terms or any applicable law;
  • Your use of the Service poses a security or legal risk to Bookvise or other users;
  • We are required to do so by a court order or applicable law; or
  • We are discontinuing the Service or a substantial part of it.

Where reasonably possible, we will give you notice and a fair opportunity to address the issue. On termination, your licence to use the Service ends immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive (for example, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and governing law) will survive termination.

14Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to clause 13.2 below, the courts at Puducherry, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service.

Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

13.2 Informal resolution

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us at legal@bookvise.net with a description of the issue, so we can try to resolve it amicably within 30 days. Most issues are resolved in a single exchange of emails.

15Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Bookvise evolves. When we do, we will:

  • Increment the version number and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page;
  • Keep an archive of previous versions available on request;
  • Tell you in-app or by email about any change that materially changes your rights or obligations, and (where required) ask for your fresh consent.

Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

16Contact and miscellaneous

15.1 How to reach us

15.2 Notices to you

We may give you notices through the Service, by email (if you have provided one), or by SMS to your registered phone number. Notices to us must be sent to the email above and are effective when received.

15.3 Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms displayed at checkout, are the entire agreement between you and Bookvise concerning the Service and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.

15.4 Severability and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce a right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.

15.5 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or by operation of law.

15.6 Force majeure

We are not liable for failure or delay in performing our obligations to the extent caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including internet or infrastructure failures, government actions, natural events, labour disputes, or pandemics.
